As the United States approaches its 250th anniversary, we find ourselves facing a fundamental question: What does it mean to belong to a democracy — and who gets to shape its future? The US@250 National Creative Assembly marks the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence by commissioning fifty-one artists, one from every state and the District of Columbia, to make work organized around that single idea.

In partnership with Think Big Alliance, Rural Democracy Initiative, and Topos, this campaign is grounded in a simple belief — democracy only works when all of us have a real role in shaping it.
