As the United States approaches its 250th anniversary, we find ourselves facing a fundamental question: What does it mean to belong to a democracy — and who gets to shape its future? The US@250 National Creative Assembly marks the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence by commissioning fifty-one artists, one from every state and the District of Columbia, to make work organized around that single idea.
