Experience ENCODED: Change the Story, Change the Future
An Indigenous Augmented Reality Takeover of The Met’s American Wing
ENCODED overlays The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s American Wing with digital works by seventeen Indigenous artists—activating twenty-six historical objects with stories of resilience, futurism, and reclamation. Visitors can use their phones to reveal augmented-reality artworks that reframe the myths of “America” and reassert Indigenous presence within these halls.
Join us for a guided tour led by Niama Safia Sandy and members of the ENCODED team. Each walk-through explores how artists have transformed the museum into a living dialogue between past and present.
