ON PRESALE NOW! Amplifier and Stanford’s d.school have teamed up to create a unique teaching tool to inspire and equip students with the creative thinking skills required to reshape our world.

Design has the ability to change the world and designers shape the present and the future by creating new products, building new experiences, or even redesigning the systems we live within. This requires some knowledge of specific tools and technical know-how, but it also depends on having an agile and flexible mind. Our teaching tool takes the form of a card deck and uses the d.school’s four pillars of design – Make, Care, Spark, Adapt – as leaping off points for deepening curiosity and fine tuning reflection and problem-solving skills. The cards in this deck are divided into four categories to promote different types of skills.

MAKE
The ability to make anything, using any type of material, from ancient to futuristic. Make cards help you learn by doing.
CARE
The care and responsibility to be protectors of the planet, all people, and the data we generate. Care cards build empathy and
curiosity.
SPARK
The quirky creativity and scrappy resourcefulness that produces new-to-the-world ideas. Spark cards prompt playful thinking.
ADAPT
The flexibility to learn as you go in a rapidly changing world. Adapt cards deepen contemplation.

This 32-card deck can be used by individuals or in groups. If you want to focus on developing a particular skill set, focus on one type of card. For a more varied experience, simply select a card, or multiple cards, at random. Once you select a card, respond to the instructions. Each card offers an inquiry, a short exploration, and a reflective question.

Every deck you purchase directly supports equitable access to liberatory learning tools—because for every deck sold, we send a free one to a classroom serving Black, Brown, Indigenous, immigrant, or low-income students. Your purchase not only brings powerful, youth-centered design tools into your own practice—it helps ensure that educators in under-resourced communities receive the same opportunity to spark creativity, confidence, and agency in their students. It’s a simple but impactful way to invest in collective empowerment.
